Our History
Our creation
I'm Sumayya, and I set this company up in 2019 with my son, Ashley (we're both in the picture). Ash was an aspiring Social Worker at the time and had great ideas for how we could work together and help others. We had a farm and had a therapy horse available, which was pretty awesome! Sadly, Ash had some health challenges, and he died in November 2020.
The loss of a child is something that changes you forever. I am blessed with a daughter and she inspires me to keep going. So through Ash's Place I practice ethical and kind Independent Social Work in order to help people. I also have some fantastic Associates to work with me when required. New for 2026 is that I've started studying for a Doctorate qualification.

I'm grateful to my past colleagues in the statutory settings I've worked in before, and I am pleased to be making new connections with people keen to work with me as an Independent Social Worker, Trainer or Consultant.
How can we help?
Ash's Place offers independent social work services tailored to the needs of each client. Our work includes Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) assessments, Mental Capacity Assessments, Parenting Capacity Assessments, and independent complaint investigations.
We also offer training across a range of health and social care topics and specialist consultancy support.
Research is close to our hearts too. Sumayya is currently studying towards a Doctorate, and this commitment to learning and evidence-based practice underpins everything we do at Ash's Place.
You can be assured of our professionalism and credentials. Sumayya is registered with Social Work England (Registration SW505) and holds a current DBS check through the Disclosure and Barring Service.
